Kastina LG Chairman Dies Two Months After Assuming Office
The newly elected chairman of Bakori Local Government Area, Katsina State, Hon. Aminu Dan Hamidu, has given up the ghost from an unknown cause, barely two months after he assumed office as the chairman.
The passing of the chairman who assumed office in April 2025, died and on Monday, June 9, 2025 was confirmed by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, Kaula Mohammed.
While some reports suggest that he might have been unwell for a while, no reason is confirmed yet.
In the statement by the state governor, he said Hamidu was a loyal party man who was devoted to public service with honesty, all his life.
He said; “Today, Katsina has lost one of its most committed and selfless sons. Hon. Hamidu was a quiet achiever who believed in the values of integrity, transparency, and people-first leadership. His death is a painful loss — not only to Bakori but to the entire state.
“The deceased was elected Chairman of Bakori Local Government in the February 2025 local government elections and officially assumed office in April 2025. Though his tenure was brief, he left behind a legacy of purpose-driven leadership and genuine commitment to community development.
“He was not someone who sought the spotlight. He let his work speak for him. In a short period, he showed what leadership could mean when rooted in sincerity.”
The Governor further extended condolences to the family of the chairman as well as the APC family in the state and people of Bakori, on behalf of the state government and all other citizens of the state.
He prayed for his soul to be forgiven by Allah and stated that his works, commitment, loyalty, honesty and love would always be remembered even in his death.
