TEARS!!! Late Ezekiel Mary Ogechi Remembered As Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic Aba Holds Convocation
By Ifeanyi Okali
The convocation ceremony of Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic Aba, formerly Abia State Polytechnic, took place today, marking an important milestone for graduating students and their families.
However, the joyous occasion was tinged with sorrow as the institution remembered Ezekiel Mary Ogechi, a brilliant student who should have been celebrated as the overall best graduating student.
Mary’s life was tragically cut short in a fatal accident just months ago. The accident occurred right in front of the school while she was completing her clearance for NYSC (National Youth Service Corps) mobilization. Her untimely death came as a devastating blow to her family, friends, and the polytechnic community, who admired her dedication and academic excellence.
At the convocation ceremony, her absence was deeply felt. Students, lecturers, and attendees reflected on her achievements and the painful reality of her not being present to receive the honor she had worked so hard to earn.
“She was a shining star,” one lecturer recounted. “Mary was not just an outstanding student academically; she was also an inspiration to everyone who knew her.”
The ceremony, though meant to celebrate success, served as a poignant reminder of life’s uncertainties. The polytechnic community mourns the loss of Ezekiel Mary Ogechi and honors her memory as a symbol of hard work, excellence, and unrealized potential.
Her story continues to resonate deeply, reminding everyone of the fragility of life and the indelible mark she left on Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic Aba.
