IMN Protest in Lagos Over Reported Killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader

Lagos, Nigeria —Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) on Monday held a protest in Lagos State to express their condemnation of the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in strikes by the United States and Israel.

The demonstrators, who gathered early Monday around the Maryland area, chanted anti-Western slogans and called for global condemnation of what they described as foreign intervention and aggression. Organisers said the protest was intended to highlight growing resentment over military actions they believe violate the sovereignty of nations.

According to reports, participants waved flags and carried placards, criticising the roles of the U.S. and Israel in the ongoing conflict that followed major strikes in the Middle East. The march was largely peaceful, though its presence stirred concern among residents in the vicinity.

Speaking to journalists, **Muftau Zakariya**, South West coordinator of IMN, said the demonstration was aimed at registering the movement’s displeasure with Western military involvement around the world. He cited recent foreign interventions, claiming they often prioritise economic interests at the expense of peace and stability.

“We are here to demand that the international community condemn these invasions and respect the independence of sovereign states,” Zakariya said, echoing sentiments expressed during similar protests in parts of northern Nigeria over the weekend.

The protest in Lagos follows others organised by IMN supporters in states such as Kano and Niger, where Shiite communities have also taken to the streets to denounce the reported killing of the Iranian leader.

The developments unfold against a backdrop of heightened regional tensions following the confirmed death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in U.S.–Israeli military strikes that have sparked reactions and demonstrations in various countries.
