Ondo State Government Debunks Rumoured School Kidnapping in Akure

The Ondo State Government has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that a kidnapping incident occurred in a school within Akure, the state capital.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, described the reports as false and misleading, assuring residents that no such incident had been recorded in any educational institution in the city.

According to the statement, “there is no record, report, or incident of kidnapping in any primary, secondary, or tertiary institution in Akure.”

The government said all schools in the state capital remain safe and are carrying out academic activities without disruption.

It further stated that security agencies, including the Police, Amotekun Corps, and the Department of State Services (DSS), had verified the situation across schools in Akure and confirmed that normalcy prevails.

The statement noted that the government, working closely with school authorities and parents, has maintained strict security measures to safeguard pupils and students.

Adeniyan urged members of the public, particularly parents and guardians, to disregard the reports and avoid spreading unverified information capable of causing panic.

“We urge members of the public, especially parents and guardians, to disregard the fake news and refrain from sharing unverified information that is capable of causing panic and anxiety,” the statement said.

The government reiterated that the safety of children and teachers remains a top priority of the Aiyedatiwa administration and encouraged residents with genuine security concerns to report to the nearest police or Amotekun post.
