Police Arrest Man For Killing His Father in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has taken into custody a 38-year-old man, identified as Nsikak Kingsley, over the alleged killing of his father during a domestic dispute in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area of the state.

The arrest was confirmed on Thursday by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, who disclosed that the incident occurred after an argument between the suspect and his 65-year-old father, Adone Peter, reportedly turned violent.

According to the police, preliminary findings indicate that the disagreement escalated into a physical confrontation, during which the elderly man sustained serious injuries.

Jimoh said the victim was rushed to a hospital for treatment but later died from the injuries he suffered.

“The deceased was immediately taken to a medical facility for urgent attention. Unfortunately, he was confirmed dead by doctors while receiving treatment,” the police spokesperson stated.

He explained that the case came to the attention of the police after a complaint was lodged by the suspect’s brother at a nearby station.

Following the report, officers launched an investigation which led to the arrest of the suspect.

The command said investigations are ongoing and assured the public that justice would be pursued in accordance with the law.

The incident has stirred concern among residents of the community, many of whom were shocked by the circumstances surrounding the death.

In a similar incident reported in 2024, police in Lagos arrested a 25-year-old man, Chibunnma Chimelie, for allegedly stabbing his 68-year-old father to death in the Isolo area of the state.
