A final year student of Akwa Ibom state polytechnic identified as Prince in his Higher National Diploma(HND), has reportedly been shot dead in his room at around 1am on Wednesday.
The victim is said to have been resting in his apartment at along Abuja street in Ikot Osurua, Ikot Ekpene LGA, Akwa Ibom state when he was shot.
According to sources that spoke on the incident, the victim had been shot by gunmen who invaded his compound, marched straight to his room and shot him in the abdomen then left him in the pool of his blood.
“They did not steal anything from his house neither did they rob anybody in the compound, they just shot him and escaped” the source narrated.
However, speaking further, the source revealed that he had seen the victim and his girlfriend around 4pm the previous day wearing facemasks and they joked and went their ways.
Meanwhile, his girlfriend was the one who reported the incident to the police as she was with him when he was shot.
Furthermore, DSP Timfon John, the police public relations officer who confirmed the incident said robbers and cultists were in the neighborhood where the young man was killed.
She also said that they(the robbers and cultists) robbed the compound where the victim was shot.
Nonetheless, she further said that investigation was ongoing.
