Edo Deputy Gov Appoints Popular Journalist, Ogochukwu Isioma as Special Assistant
The reinstated Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu has approved the re-appointment of Comrade Ogochukwu Isioma, alias Campus Gist, as his Special Assistant.
Isioma, Edo-born popular journalist and publisher of Campus Gist, was among the nine appointees unveiled on Friday July 19, 2024 following Shaibu’s reinstatement by the court.
The appointments were contained in a statement signed by Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Comrade Musa Ebomhiana. It includes three Senior Special Assistants and four Special Assistants.
Those reappointed include Hon. Kingsley Ehigiamusor as Chief of Staff, Office of the Deputy Governor; Comrade Musa Ebomhiana as Chief Press Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor and Hon. Emmanuel Akhaba as Senior Special Assistant.
Others are Mustapha Lawal as Senior Special Assistant; Charles Olubayo as Senior Special Assistant; Mathias Akhanemhe as Special Assistant; Comrade Robinson Akhenoba as Special Assistant; Robert Ojele as Special Assistant and Isioma Ogochukwu as Special Assistant.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, in the statement, said the appointments take immediate effect.
Isioma, a former Media Officer at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) and Metro Watch’s Reporter, was first appointed as Special Assistant to the Edo State Deputy Governor in 2023.
However, Governor Godwin Obaseki had dissolved all political appointees in the Office of the Deputy Governor, following Shaibu’s purported impeachment during their fallout.
Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday, July 17, reinstated Shaibu as the Deputy Governor of Edo State, months after he was unlawfully impeached by the state assembly in April 2024.
