Man Who Stole Hen and Eggs Pardoned After 10 Years on Death Row

In 2010, man named Segun Olowookere who was 17 years of age was arrested and has served a jail term of 10 years with his accomplice for stealing fowl and eggs.

The young man was said to have invaded an officers house with his friend holding a gun but were lucky to escape making away with only the fowl and eggs.

They were arrested and detained and has been serving an initial life imprisonment for the past 10 years.

However, concerned individuals across Nigeria raised a cry stating that the sentence was rather too mean/harsh for such young boys and for such minimal crime.

Therefore, the Governor of Osun State, Governor Ademola Adeleke ordered for their release on Tuesday.

He however, posted on his Twitter account thus;

“I have directed the Commissioner for Justice to initiate processes to grant prerogative of mercy to the young MAN. Osun is a land of justice and equity. We must ensure fairness and protection of the sanctity of lives,”
