Full Profiles Of Four Ebonyians Promoted To The Rank Of General In Nigerian Army (Photos)

(2) Another Ebonyi Man, Mr Ogbonnaya Igwe was also elevated to the rank of General in the Nigerian Army. Gen Ogbonnaya Igwe hails from Onicha in Ebonyi State.

(3) Also promoted to the rank of General (Brigadier) in the Nigerian Army is Gen. Charles Nwonyi from Ezza South LGA. He’s at the Defense Intelligence Agency.

(4) Another Ebonyi man promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in the Nigerian Army is Gen. Amaechi Agwu from Okposi in Ebonyi State.

Newmax Nigeria recalls that the Army Council has approved the promotion of 108 senior officers in the Nigerian Army, with 35 Brigadier Generals elevated to the rank of Major General. The promotion includes a total of 73 Colonels who have been promoted to Brigadier General.

According to a statement released by the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, some of the officers promoted to Major General include Brigadier General A. Garba, Acting Provost Marshal; Brigadier General U.M. Alkali, Deputy Chief of Administration; Brigadier General A.G.L. Haruna, Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division; and Brigadier General I.A. Ajose, Acting General Officer Commanding 8 Division.

Additionally, 73 Colonels were promoted to the rank of Brigadier General, among them Colonel S.M. Iliya, Commander 43 Engineers Brigade; Colonel O. Igwe, Commander 78 Supply and Transport; and Colonel N.E. Udofia, Headquarters Nigerian Army Electrical Mechanical Engineers.

In congratulating the newly promoted officers, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, urged them to redouble their efforts in justifying their promotions.

He also reminded them of their solemn commitment to defend the nation and uphold the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
