The federal Government has spoken on the reason for the delay in payment of workers’ salary in Nigeria.

This is coming after worker’s came out to lament that they may not be able to celebrate Christmas like others because they had not been paid.

However, speaking on the issue, officials said the delay is linked with budget shortfalls and a switch in payment method.

Stating that the problem is also somehow linked to the new minimum wage of 70,000, officials from the general accountants office said that payment already began.

Another problem stated by the officials is with the 2025 budget.

It was stated that the budget reduced salary allocation however, workers are advised to be patient as they will receive their salaries soon if they are yet to.
