Northern Elders Express Displeasure Over Tinubu’s Insistence on Tax Bills
The northern elders and others have expressed utmost displeasure over Tinubu’s Insistence on Tax bills as he announces that there will be no reversal on the controversial tax reform bills.
Comprising of members of the national assembly, northern elders’ forum, and the league of northern democrats have described the president’s action as unilateral and said it’s devoid of inclusive consultation.
This development was shared by the president, Tinubu during his maiden media chat which was held on Monday in Lagos.
However, upon the announcement, the president, firsthand, said that even though the bill would not be accepted by everyone, that it has come to stay.
Meanwhile, the northern elders’ forum are insisting that the president cannot impose something of such on the people saying it is an act of undermining the judiciary.
“The president has offended the sensibility of many Nigerians, particularly those of our leaders with his declaration and it shows the level of independence of our national assembly. The president should not be rigid in decision making.” They said.
