Media Workers Embark on 3 Days Warning Strike in Lagos Over Non-Payment of New Minimum Wage
The Lagos state-owned media organization has had it’s worker’s union embark on a 3 days warning strike to make known their unhappiness about the non-payment of the new minimum wage.
Comprising of staff of the Lagos state television, radio Lagos/Eko FM, as well as Lagos traffic radio, the union stated another reason as the non-inclusion in the state oracle database for payment of salary.
Interestingly, the protesters were entertained by musical bands, had placards with their demand inscribed on them, sang solidarity songs and walked around their premises.
“Give us oracle and take the revenue generated” NAN reporting the issue mentioned this as one of the inscriptions on the placards alongside others.
When asked, Dr Adeleye Ajayi, the chairman of the Lagos state council of NUJ said that all the media workers demanded was fair treatment and their wages for being at the center and promoting government policy.
Notably, the protesting union in under the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Radio, Television, and Theatre and Arts Workers’ Union(RATTAWU), Lagos state.
