A 54-year old priest of the Celestial Church of Christ in Idiroko, Ipokia LGA, Ogun state was shot by gunmen during church service on Sunday.
The prophet identified as Yomi Adetula was shot by three gunmen for an unknown reason at CCC eagle parish, along baggage road, Odo eran at about 10:30am.
An eyewitness who reported the issue said the priest who was taken unawares while conducting church service couldn’t make it after he was shot.
It was gathered that his head had been mutilated with an axe after he was shot so badly.
The spokesperson of Ogun state police force, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident said they raced to the scene immediately they were alerted, in a statement on Sunday afternoon.
“On police inquiry, information fiehter gathered that three men came into the church, brought out a long double-barrelled gun, aimed at their target and fired a shot that brought the deceased down.” She narrated.
Furthermore, Odutola said that the deceased was lying faced up in the pool of his blood when the police arrived at the scene.
Also, she announced that the pressure has gone down in the area as they police has begun investigating the incident says the killers fled after executing him.
Additionally, she said he prophet’s remains has been deposited at the general hospital morgue in llaro.
