Why I Paid Woman To Carry My Baby – Nollywood Actress, Ini Edo Reveals
Nollywood actress Ini Edo opened up about the challenges she faced on her journey to motherhood revealing that she resorted to surrogacy after at least six miscarriages.
She revealed that she struggled with carrying pregnancies to term and eventually decided to have her daughter, Light, through surrogacy. Her child, who is now three years old, brought joy after a long and difficult journey.
The actress shared her story during a conversation on the reality show ‘Young, Famous & African’. When asked by her co-star, Luis, if she had a child, Ini confirmed she has a daughter. When further questioned about her relationship with the child’s father, Ini revealed, “No, I’m not married, and he doesn’t have anything to do with us. It’s just me and my child.”
In a confessional, Ini explained her decision to keep her journey private. “My journey is personal, and I haven’t really talked about it,” she said. She further explained, “I went through surrogacy. There was no man in my life at the time, and I wanted to have a child. There are different ways to achieve that.”
During the show, Ini also revealed that her decision to opt for surrogacy came after enduring six miscarriages despite undergoing IVF procedures. She admitted, “I never thought I would have fertility issues, but it happened. When it seemed like it wasn’t going to work the way I wanted, and I wasn’t getting younger, I asked myself, ‘What are my options?’” Surrogacy presented itself as the best choice, and I embraced it.
