Tension has risen in Oba, Idemili LGA of Anambra state as a popular hotel in the area was uncovered with upto 30 graves, arms and graves under ground.

Although registered as Udoka Golden Point Hotel and Suites, it’s popularly known as La Cruise Hotel and located at onitsha-owerri road.

On Saturday when the hotel was demolished, the newly appointed security operatives in the area said that they got a tipoff from someone and after due intelligence, they uncovered that it was a disguised hideout for different atrocities.

According to the authorities, different things were found downstairs of the building during its demolition including about 30 graves, Army camouflage, Arms and cartridges.

The Anambra State New Media shared a statement of the incident and discovery on its X handle providing all details but not indicating whether corpses were found in the graves.

However, when the press secretary to the Anambra State Governor – Soludo was contacted, Christian Aburime confirmed the incident and said that investigation was ongoing.

“Yes, the hotel was demolished as part of Anambra state Homeland Security law that says any structure or building found to be housing criminals or linked to the issue of kidnapping should be pulled down.” Aburime said.

However, he said further that he had no answer to whether corpses were found inside the graves.

“As regards if corpse were found at the discovered graves or if ay arrest was made, that I cannot say for now. Investigations are still ongoing and further development shall be made known as they unfold” He said.

Nonetheless, residents of the area in an interview raised alarm of how some other such disguised establishments were still in operation as they urged the state Government to further look into the matter and fish out such establishments.

“I witnessed the demolition, this is beyond comprehension, God forbid such evil in our land” a resident said.

Meanwhile, the spokesman for the Anambra State police command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga when he was contacted concerning he development said they do not have a brief about it.
