828 Illegal Migrants Deported By FG, Tightens Border Security
It has been disclosed that the Federal Government deported upto 838 illegal foreign migrants in the country .
Disclosing this was the minister of Interior, Tunji Ojo during a media parley on Tuesday, in Abuja.
The federal Government names this deportation is a part of its intensified effort to eradicate illegal migration and strengthen security in the borders.
Analysing the efforts of the Government to improve national security, the minister mentioned that over 137 victims of trafficking were rescued in 2024.
“838 foreigners were repatriated by the Nigerian Immigration service”. He said.
Furthermore, the government in pursuit of ways to modernize the immigration system of the country has implemented different strategies.
Introducing Nigerian passport into international civil aviation organization Public Key Directory and allowing seamless verification across the world.
In addition to that, a centralized Visa Approval centre has been established in Abuja for easier visa processing. The government also constructed an 8.3 petabyte data centre and installed installed a solar power for unlimited operation.
Concluding his statement, the minster said all these is just to enhance national security.
