Tinubu Affirms Nigeria’s Commitment to Improved Electricity
President Bola Tinubu has affirmed Nigeria’s commitment to improved electricity during his visit to Tanzania for the African Energy Submit which held in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.
Giving a detailed explanation of Nigeria’s progress at the event, Tinubu acknowledged $1.1bn for AFDB which is supposed to provide electricity for 5 million people by 2026. He also mentioned the nation’s $200million electrification project which is meant to provide electricity for 500,000 people by end of 2025.
Further in the statement of the president which was presented by the minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, he declared maximum interest in AFDB’s $700million promised investment in Nigeria’s Power Desert Programme.
The president also reminded them of the $500 million Facility for Nigeria’s National Grid battery.

“Mission 300” was a 2-days submit which was hosted by the Government of Tanzania collaborating with African Development Bank (AFDB), World Bank and African Union.
This submit was aimed at addressing African’s electricity access gap through innovative financing and new technology.
While at it, the event featured the adoption of the Dar Es Salaam declaration which was majorly focused on the provision of Electricity to 300 million people across Africa, come 2030.
During the adoption which involved a discussion by Africa Leaders including Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, urged Africa leaders to prioritize energy access.
“As Nigeria’s President, I am committed to making energy access a priority.” Tinubu said.
“We have equally begun making plans to ensure the effectiveness of the World Bank’s $750 million support for expanding Nigeria’s distributed energy access via mini-grids and standalone solar systems that will provide access to power to 16.2 million people,” Tinubu also said.
Concluding his statement after stressing on the need for collective effort in making the vision a reality, Tinubu thanked the president of World Bank Ajay Banga and AFDB President, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina for the vision.
