Two people were confirmed dead, four others who were rescued are severely injured while many others are still trapped as a Two-Storey building in Ikota, Ajah Lagos state collapsed suddenly.
This sad incident happened in Mega Mall Estate Mobile Road, Inikpa Village, Ikota, Lagos state, Nigeria.
The building was said to have collapsed at 2:00pm on Tuesday trapping many people as the National Emergency Management Agency confirmed the incident.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Farinloye, the Lagos Office Coordinator said they are yet to ascertain the cause of the collapse.
Sadly, Farinloye confirmed the death of two people; 1 adult and 1 teenage boy whom he said their bodies were recovered alongside other 5 adults who were still alive. The death toll is likely to increase considering the condition of the collapse while we hope it does not.
“Information indicates that more people are likely trapped in the rubble. Search and rescue operation is going on. Investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the collapse” the coordinator said.
