Guardiola Says Manchester City Are Not Yet Ready to Win Champions League

Pep Guardiola has said that Manchester city does not stand a chance at winning the champions league, yet, promising that they’d be a formidable opponent if they faced Real Madrid or Bayern Munich, next month.

Man City had faced Club Brugge and barely survived the night after losing to them in the second-half fight-back from 1-0 to Brugge at 3-1. This win was possible when Brugge made the most out of one of their counterattacks.

Expressing his hope in his team, Guardiola said he wished they would receive strength by the return of their key players who just recovered from injuries and others who are newly signed after being ineligible, including; Omah Marmoush, Abdukodir, Khusanov, and Victor Rels.

However, when he was asked his thought about Manchester winning champions league, Guardiola said;

“Right now, no, but the year that we won [2023] I didn’t think it. I’m so pragmatic. They have more experience than us and Madrid have been back in the last games and Bayern have had an incredible season with Vinnie [Kompany]. If you had to play tomorrow it would be difficult, but in two weeks I don’t know the position we will be in. The players in the locker room said Bayern or Real – it’s OK, we will be fit and see what happens.”

However, Guardiola said he was not sure if Real Madrid and Bayern are happy to play against them, but he said; “It is what it is”.
