Prof. George Chima, the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission chairman, has been abducted by four unidentified gunmen in Imo state.

The incident was said to have happened on Friday in the Chairman’s Imo residence while he hosted his guests.

Narrating the Incident, a family source said the chairman had been hosting some lecturers from Abia State University, Uturu when it happened. They were all together in his residence in Okigwe when the abductors who are suspected to be kidnappers broke in to the house and seized him after harassing his guests.

“Yes, we are aware of the kidnap of the Prof and we have commenced investigations. As I speak to you now, the Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, personally led the team of police to Okigwe.” DSP Henry Okoye, the state Police’s spokesperson confirmed the news.
