A Kaduna driver; 36-year old Mustapha Aminu has received 15 strokes of the cane in a court ruling on Thursday, for assaulting a police man.
According to the report, Aminu had hit Sergeant Adamu Maigari with a log of wood while he was on duty. Inspector Chidi Leo, the prosecutoing council recounted to the court that the event happened on 29th January at 2:00pm, when the officer stopped Aminu who was over speeding, only to get hit on the head with a log of wood.
He further explained that such an act is contrary to Section 237 of the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017.
Meanwhile, Aminu was found guilty of the allegation and the Magistrate, Mr Ibrahim Emmanuel ordered 15 strokes of the cane on the convict.
“This will also serve as a warning to others who may consider committing such crimes. I hereby order a court official to administer 15 strokes of the cane,” he said.
The judge, Emmanuel advised Aminu to focus on his job and avoid getting himself in trouble.
