Nigerian Pastor Moves For Valentine’s Day to Be Banned
Bishop Charles Ighele, the general superintendent of the Holy Spirit Mission has moved a motion for Valentine’s day to be banned in Nigeria.
During an interview with news men in Lagos on Wednesday, two days to valentine’s day, Bishop Ighele stated sexual immorality as his reason for the motion.
According to him, Valentine’s day celebration is a deception from the devil on which he capitalizes to impose sexual immorality on earth. Igehele said youths now maximize Valentine’s day to promote their romantic relationships and all, instead of focusing on the main goal of the celebration which is to reach out to the needy and carry out humanitarian works.
“The day is associated with a romantic demon known as cupid. This demon is one of the rulers of the darkness of this world as found in Ephesians 6 verses 11 and 12.
“Cupid is the Roman name for the Greek god of love known as Eros. The English word erotic has its root in Eros.
“The dictionary defines the word erotic as relating to or tendency to arouse sexual desire or excitement,” the clergy explained.
Igehele further explained that the bible tells us that ‘God is love’, and it is very certain that God will not want His type of love celebrated the way we celebrate valentine’s day which holds every 14th of February, annually.
