In Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, 56-year old pastor identified as Emeka Nkama from Ebonyi state allegedly defiled a minor on 24th December 2024.
Since the occurrence, this incident remained untold untill on Monday, 17th February 2025, when one of the officers at Model Primary Health Centre, Obosi reported it to Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike, and the Chairman of Idemili North LGA, Chief Stanley Nkwoka.
The Suspect is said to come from from Ebonyi State, and a pastor at Jesus Build the Church Mission in Obosi.
A close relative of the victim who wants to remain anonymous said the child had been sick since the sad occurrence and the mother only reported to the primary health care after he condition worsened.
“It was when the child’s health worsened after being put through herbal medicine that her mother eventually reported to the primary health care facility,” the source said.
However, the state Governor’s wife has reacted on the issue through her media aide, Daniel Ezeigwe, who said Mrs Soludo took legal actions upon receiving official reports of the case.
“Mrs Soludo also directed the Commissioner for Women and Social Welfare, Ify Obinabo to take up the case and to also ensure that every established legal mechanism is comprehensively explored to nail the alleged culprit.
“The governor’s wife criticised the ‘culture of silence’ to dangerous crimes, insisting that the war against domestic and sexual violence would only become easier when people begin to speak up,” the statement read.
