Edo: How Husband Killed Wife And Was Living With Her Body For Days
The Edo state police command has arrested a man named Kelvin Izekor for murdering his wife, Success Izekor who is 38 years old, on Saturday.
A video of the ugly incident which has gone viral was initially shared by a lady who claims to be the sister of the deceased.
The video, it captured moment the police and other people in the neighborhood and family members were gathered and the dead body of success had machete cuts all over and her head was not excluded.
According to a resident who confirmed the incident and pleaded anonymity, the couple were newly Weds and it is not clear what would have happened to land the woman in such ugly date.
Further narrating the incident in her video, the sister of the deceased alleged that the suspect, Kelvin had murder his wife days ago and locked up her corpse in the same house where he slept, ate and did everything untill he could no longer stand the foul odor.
So, Kelvin called his mother to help him evacuate the body after lying to success’s family that she had gone to market and never returned but refusing to grant the reporter(deceased’s sister) entrance to his house when she came to hear him in person.
According to her, it was in the process of the evacuating the body that a chemist operator in the neighborhood asked to know whose body that was and Kelvin confirmed it was his wife. Meanwhile, the suspecting neighbor asked why he was the one evacuating his dead wife’s body only to notice the cuts on the corpse and alerted other neighbors.
“I can’t believe what I saw. Imagine being killed by your own husband. They were newlyweds, and nobody would have expected the woman to suffer such a fate,”another anonymous resident expressed.
Meanwhile, spokesperson of the Edo State Police Command, Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Sunday and said the suspect had been arrested.
“On 22/02/2025, at about 22:00hrs, information was received that one Kelvin Izekor of No. 50 Upper Mission Extension, Benin City, had killed his wife, Success Izekor, aged 38, and was about to be lynched by an irate mob,” Yamu said.
He further stated his displeasure in the recent rise in domestic violence and assured the public of thorough investigation into the woman’s death and promised to bring anyone linked to the act to face the law.
