JUST IN!!! Debtor Drags Creditor To Court For ‘Lack Of Understanding’
A debtor, Shatu Samuel, who allegedly collected textile materials worth N729,000 on credit on Tuesday dragged her creditor to a Shari’a court, sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna for alleged lack of understanding.
Samuel, who was led by her counsel, Jamilu Sulaiman, stated that it was true shecollected textile materials worth the amount in 2024 from one Hajiya Lubabatu but Lubabatu should give her time to repay the debt.
Samuel said she would have long paid the money if not that her son was ill and she had spent the money on hospital bills.
Shatu Samuel, who is widow, told the court that she explained the situation to her creditor but she had been threatening to arrest her.
“Lababatu has been disturbing me, intimidating and threatening to arrest me.
“I’m appealing to the court to intervene and stop her from disturbing me until I get the money, ” she said.
The widow alleged that the actual amount was N629,000 and not N729,000.
Samuel prayed the court to give her up till May to pay her debt.
On her part, Lababatu alleged that she had given Samuel a total sum of N1.5 million worth of items and collected the documents of her property as collateral.
“She told me that she’s a widow and has children to cater for; that was why I felt for her and gave the money (textile materials),” she said.
Lababatu also urged the court to assist her recover all her monies by the end of February as they had earlier agreed.
The Judge, Mallam Kabiru Muhammad, adjourned until March 6 for hearing.
