Ai-Girlfriend Scams Man of $28,000

On Wednesday, the Chinese state media reported the case of a Shanghai man who was scammed of nearly $28,000 by his Ai-girlfriend who be believed was in need.

According to the report, online scammers maximized Ai tool(s) to generate still photos, realistic videos of the fictional ‘Ms. Jiao’ as well as documents to buttress their claim and further convince the victim to transfer the said amount.

Narrating how the transfer went about, the state broadcaster TV said that the man transferred 200,000 yuan to his ‘girlfriend’ who said she needed it to open a business and settle hospital bills of her relative.

The money transferred is about $28,000 when converted and he was convinced when he saw fake ID’s and medical reports the scammers would have generated.

However, in the report, the state broadcaster CCTV said; “Throughout the process, (the victim) Mr. Liu never met Ms. Jiao in person.”
