NDLEA DG Cries Out Over Death Threats, Seeks Protection

The Director-General of the NDLEA, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, has raised alarm over threats on her life and staff urging the authorities to provide protection for them.

At the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Wednesday, where she made this known, Prof. Adeyeye disclosed the amount of danger the NDLEA officials face on a daily while doing their work.

The work of the NDLEA which involves taking down fake and substandard pharmaceutical products in the country, according to Prof. Adeyeye, is risky.

“Our officials have been targeted simply for doing their jobs.

“One of our staff members in Kano had his child kidnapped because he refused to compromise. Luckily, the child escaped.

“The personal toll of the job is too much on me. I have two policemen living with me in Abuja and Lagos. I don’t have a life anymore. I can’t go anywhere without escorts. That’s not how I want to live, but I have no choice,” the NDLEA boss stated.

Despite that, Adeyeye reaffirmed the agency’s commitment in cracking down fake products while asking the authorities to protect she and her staff.
