Nigeria's First Lady Empowers 200 Anambra Farmers With Agricultural Tools

Nigeria’s First Lady Empowers 200 Anambra Farmers With Agricultural Tools

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the president of Nigeria has empowered over 200 Anambra farmers including youths and women, to make their livelihood and improve their farming.

This presentation took place at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, on Wednesday, where Mrs. Tinubu handed tools including; food processors, grinding machines, seedlings, etc.

The First Lady of Anambra State, Dr Nonye Soludo who represented Tinubu said it was a significant exercise to impact lives.

“This event is significant for two reasons. First is that after today, your life would have had a greater impact—one that will not only benefit you, but benefit your family, community, Anambra State, and our dear country at large.

“Secondly, you have passed through a comprehensive training period that prepares you for this important moment. Each one of you was selected through a transparent, random process.

“The Renewed Hope Agriculture Support Programme is a medium-scale agro-support initiative that targets individuals who have the right passion to venture into lucrative agro-businesses. You all have been trained in different departments, including feed processing, vegetable farming, drip irrigation installation, and piggery. Each of these training areas offers you a platform to learn, develop, and become financially sustained,” Mrs. Tinubu said.

She urged those who were empowered not to sell their tools but to focus on making their lives better with it stressing that they are employed now.

Furthermore, the first lady advised the beneficiaries to train others just as they were trained.

Meanwhile, the state’s commissioner for agriculture, Dr Foster Ihejiofor, reminded the people how important agriculture is and advised them to invest into it.
