REVITALIZING The Capital City : Governor Nwifuru’s Move For Urban Renewal (1)

His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru demonstrates an unwavering commitment to urban renewal by adopting a crucial process for the growth and sustainability of our capital city. Under his watch, urban renewal has become a shining example of how thoughtful planning and inclusive development can address long-standing challenges such as aging infrastructure and urban decay.
By prioritizing the needs of residents and engaging stakeholders at every level, he has ensured that these projects are not just about buildings and roads, but about creating spaces where people can thrive.
Beyond the installation of solar-powered traffic lights, landscaping and beautification of walkways and medians, including repair works and renovation of the existing kerbs and medians within the capital city, procurement and installation of 102 prefabricated eco-friendly bus shelters, introduction of solar-powered streetlight in lieu of the generator-powered ones to reduce cost and as well reduce gas emissions and environmental pollution, enhancement of inter and intra-city transportation with the construction of the soon-to-be-launched EBOCAB Terminal and the procurement of over 50 units of cabs for the take-off of operations in the capital city, remodeling of the Ebonyi Tower, popularly known as Udensi Roundabout into a great edifice that bears the Ekumenyi Son – a symbol of our strong agricultural heritage – with the installation of electrical lighting to illuminate the capital city including additional shower fountains; the renovation and asphalting of urban road networks and expansion of urban interconnectivity through the construction of new ones stands as a testament to his dedication to creating a more equitable and vibrant future for the people of Ebonyi State.
The Governor’s visionary approach to revitalizing our urban areas has not only transformed the physical landscape but has also breathed new life into our city fostering economic growth, social cohesion, and environmental sustainability.
