Ramadan Begins Today: Sultan, Tinubu Seek Prayers For Nigeria

The Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar III, alongside the president of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has urged Muslims to pray and go closer to Allah following 2025 Ramadan.

According to the declaration of the Sultan, the Ramadan celebration for the year starts on 1st of march.

While the Sultan urged Muslims to dedicate the holy month to seeking Allah’s blessing, Tinubu urged Nigerians to come together in unity and pray for the growth of the country.

“We must encourage acts of charity and the importance of supporting the less privileged so that they too can partake in the fasting period,” the sultan said.

“Ramadan is a time for deep reflection, renewed devotion to Allah, and acts of compassion and generosity toward humanity.

“It is a season of spiritual rejuvenation, self-discipline, and empathy for the less fortunate. Let us use this period to strengthen our bonds with Allah and one another, fostering unity and peace in our communities,” Tinubu said in his speech while addressing the Muslims.

When he addressed the brethrens from his palace, Abubakar announced that the crescent moon was seen in the evening of February 28, corresponding to the 29th day of Shaban, therefore, he declared 1st of march 2025 the beginning of Ramadan 2025.
