50-year old Nuru Isah has been arrested by the Bauchi state police command for allegedly flogging his 24-year old wife, Wasila Abdullah to death over Ramadan food.

Ahmed Wakil, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command who confirmed the incident on Sunday said it happened on Saturday when Isah and Wasila were arguing over who would handle the foods and fruits meant for breaking their Ramadan fast.

Apparently, the argument in hunger had led to violence and the suspect flogged her till she became unconscious and was rushed to the hospital.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, Nuru Isah, is accused of using a cane to strike his wife, which resulted in her collapsing and becoming unconscious within their matrimonial residence,” the PPRO said.

Wakil added that; “The victim was subsequently transported to Abubakar Tafawa Belewa University Teaching Hospital, ATBUTH Bauchi, where medical personnel confirmed her death.

Furthermore, Wakil said thorough investigation has been launched to ascertain what really transpired.

He also reminded the general public that domestic violence should be avoided by all means.
