Edo Govt. Empowers Women With Agricultural Skills to Celebrate International Women’s Day
The Edo State Government, through the “Plant, Nurture, Eat – Edo Girls’ Farm Project” hosted by the Office of the Special Adviser on Sustainable Development Goals, led by Sally Suleiman, has celebrated women in a special way during the 2025 international women’s day.
Sally Suleiman in a statement on Sunday highlighted the aims of the project; to equip young girls with practical agricultural skills while instilling values of patience, responsibility, and self-sufficiency.
She mentioned that the project would also contribute to the food security and environmental sustainability in the state.
“In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Edo State Office of the Special Adviser on Sustainable Development Goals has unveiled the ‘Plant, Nurture, Eat – Edo Girls’ Farm Project.’
“This project aligns with Governor Monday Okpehbolo’s SHINE (Security, Health, Infrastructure, Nutrition, and Education) Agenda, which prioritizes agriculture as a key driver of economic transformation.
“By engaging young girls in hands-on farming, the initiative not only fosters youth empowerment but also supports key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Quality Education (SDG 4), and Gender Equality (SDG 5),” she explained.
