NAFDAC Introduces New App to Counter Fake Drugs
In a quest to eliminate counterfeits and fake medical products, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has unveiled its new app, Greenbook.
The Director-General of NAFDAC, Mojisola Adeyeye, on Wednesday at the opening ceremony and launching of Greenbook, made a call to every Nigerian to join in the fight against counterfeit drugs.
She further stated that the major aim of the application is to detect and counter the advance methods used in producing counterfeits these days.
The application is said to contain comprehensive database of registered and original medicines in the country.
“Counterfeiters have become more sophisticated in advancing their trade. Therefore, the agency is committed to using technology and modern methods to mitigate their activities, making stakeholder sensitisation essential.
“The NAFDAC Greenbook is an online resource for identifying a product’s source. Users can enter the product name, brand name, or registration number to verify its registration status.
“If the product is listed in the Greenbook, it signifies that it has been registered by NAFDAC and is considered authentic. The Greenbook serves as a tool to help consumers identify and avoid potentially fake or substandard products,” Adeyeye introduced.
She also urged stakeholders and everyone else to join forces and eliminated counterfeits so as to stop the dangers they pose to human lives.
