My 4-Year Old Daughter Lost Her Sight in School, They Arrested My Husband For Complaining – Woman Cries Out
A trader, Charity Obisco, has narrated her ordeal — how her daughter got disabled in her left eyes at a school in Lagos and asked Nigerians and necessary authorities to aid.
In her statement in an interview, the trader narrated how her twin girls were taken to school on 11th October 2024 only for her to get a call that one of them has been injured in her left eyes.
According to the grieving mother, it was International Girl Child’s Day when she was preparing to celebrate the 4-year old twins only to be called by the management.
In her narration, she mentioned how they went from one hospital to the other only to be told; “I’m sorry, but your daughter will not be able to see with this eye again”, by the doctors each time.
She stated that they had been told a fellow pupil puked the little girl’s eyes in the first stance only for the management to keep changing their statement each time after the mother of the accused said there was no evidence to prove her child did it. Her daughter (the victim) had also told her parents that her teacher has been punishing her when she injured her left eyes with a pen.
However, after the first day of the treatment, she noted that the school management stopped caring about them and also instructed everyone else to stay away from them.
Meanwhile, when her husband visited the school to ask why they would just abandon them like that after their child was disabled in their school, he was arrested as the management claimed he was threatening them.
Stating that everything that happened since then untill now has left them literally struggling to feed, the poor woman called on the Government, relevant authorities and we’ll meaning Nigerians to help her family.
“We tried to report the case at the National Human Rights Commission, but they told us, ‘This girl’s case does not concern us.’ The school also dismissed us, saying it was not their responsibility. Instead, they shifted the blame and told us to go after the woman whose child they originally claimed injured my daughter.
“I’m appealing to the government and the Nigerian people to intervene in this matter. I’m calling on the authorities to provide proper treatment for this young girl. I’m not seeking to quarrel with anyone; I just need help. My only desire is for her to regain her sight. She’s only four years old, along with her twin sibling. They’re still very young,” she cried out.
