Women Protest Against Killing and R@ping in Enugu State, Block Roads (Video)

Women of Eha-mufu isi-uzo LGA of Enugu state have started protesting against Fulani herdsmen attack on their husbands, children and women.

In recent time, the Eha-Ohala which comprises Mgbuji, Umujove, and Abor autonomous communities, has recorded several attacks by herdsmen which caused the loss of several lives. Between 2020 and 2025, 105 farmers have been killed while some were raped, more than 28 farm settlements have been sacked and attackers have occupied.

On Tuesday when they blocked the Nkalagu-Eha-Amufu-Ikem-Obollo-Afor Federal Highway, the women carried green leaves, placards and sang lamentation songs to draw the attention of the Governor.

Solely seeking for their voices to be heard and the state Governor to come to their aid, Mrs Roseline Odoh who spoke on behalf of the protesters to newsmen said;

“We’re farmers, and we have no other means to survive except through farming. Every year, during harvest, Fulani herdsmen come and occupy our farms, destroying our livelihood.

“The worst is that they have sacked us from our farm settlements and the invaders occupy it. So many of us don’t have anywhere to go. Our houses have been burnt down. So many of our people – children, youths and our husbands have been killed. In each of these cases, the government and security agencies will deny that our people were not attacked and killed. The reason for doing so, we don’t know.

“If they send soldiers and police here, they will only patrol the town. They don’t go to where these criminals are occupying.”

The protesters cried and asked the Government under the administration of Doctor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, to come to their aid and restore security in their land to enable them continue their farming and earn their living.
