Senate Calls on FG to Address Hike in Price of Data
The Senate has urged the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy to engage telecommunication companies in Nigeria to review the recent high cost of data and make sure it is affordable for users.
In a motion with the title “Urgent Need to Address the Increased Cost of Data Services in Nigeria,” presented by Senator Ekpenyong Asuquo, the senate called on the FG to establish Tech hubs and provide unlimited internet access for entrepreneurs and young innovators.
In his presentation, the senate through Senator Asuquo also mandated the committee to find out the cause of he recent hike.
He also noted that they are concerned because the youths depend 90% on the internet for their livelihood mentioning freelancers, and every others in ICT.
