“I Wasn’t Arrested But Only Questioned” – Ebonyi Commissioner
Ebonyi state governor Francis Nwifuru has commenced legal actions against some of his cabinet members over breach of contract terms in the 140 units Ezillo housing scheme of the state government.
Recall that report had engaged in Abakaliki the state capital on Tuesday about the arrest of six commissioners by men of the state police command on the order of the governor for failing to complete the housing units allocated to them.

Confirming the development, one of the accused and the state commissioner for local government and chieftaincy matters Hon. Uchenna Igwe who spoke to our correspondent via the telephone explained that although some security men had visited his house in the morning to interrogate him on the progress of work at the site, he was neither arrested nor detained and noted that the delay in the project completion was as a result of non availability of funds and promised to deliver the contract in two weeks.
The commissioners affected are; The commissioner for tertiary education Prof. Ómárí Omaka SAN, commissioner for environment, Mr. Victor Chukwu, commissioner for culture and tourism Ifeanyi Ogbuewu, commissioner for local government and chieftaincy matters Uchenna Igwe, commissioner for Health Moses Ekuma, commissioner for project monitoring Felix Igboke and the chairman of Afikpo local government area Timothy Nwachi.
