Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road Will Withstand Flood For 50 years – Dave Umahi Assures

The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has assured Nigerians that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal road project is being constructed so that it would stand floods for 50 years.

Making this statement at a public engagement with stakeholders on Section 2 of the project in Lagos, on Sunday, the minister said that the pavement of the road would be on the level of the first floor of buildings.

“We will make sure that our pavement level is going to counter any climate change.

“To retain the road, we are going to be building a retaining board. It has already started.

“We also have the cable duct so you don’t have to cut the road.

“MTN, African Plus or any other network doesn’t have to cut the road. The cables are there, I saw them,” he said.

The former Governor of Ebonyi state also stated that there would be CCTV cameras installed in the road so that anything happening would be easily seen and attended to in less than 15 minutes.

Other features of the road that he mentioned includes an evacuation corridor, facilities on the sides of the road(pharmacy, supermarket,etc).

Concluding his speech, he said;

“We are flying over Dangote Refinery, and the seven-axial road is coming. It is going to be a point to behold. It is going to be another tourist site.”
