Ogun Poly Student Dies in Accident on Way Back From Exam
The Ogun state police has arrested a truck driver involved in the death of Temilade Adekunle, an ND 1 student of Ogun state polytechnic, llaro.
This incident which happened at Sayedero market, Yewa South LGA, Ogun State, on Thursday involved the ND 1 student who was on a motorcycle on her way back from exam and a granite-laden truck with number plate AAA 640 XX—which ran into them, killing the young lady.
Sadly however, the truck driver immediately fled the scene leaving the young lady lying in the pool of her blood; as seen in a video online.
The Public Relations Officer of the Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency(TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, who spoke on the incident on Thursday said Temilade was taken to the hospital where she was confirmed dead.
*A fatal RTA/RTC at Sayedero market, Yewa South. It involved an Iveco truck with number plate AAA 640 XX, an unregistered Toyota car and a motorcycle. The cause of the accident was brake failure.
“One death was recorded, a female student of the Federal Poly, according to a witness.
“Traffic was affected, but TRACE operatives were on the ground managing the traffic situation, and the victim has been taken to the Ilaro general hospital morgue by the FPI school authority with their ambulance,” he said.
On the other hand, the spokesperson for the FBI said the family of the deceased had been contacted.
Student bodies also sent their condolences, noting that Temilade was a promising and bright student; NANS described her death as ‘Devastating’.
Furthermore, the llaro polytechnic has also confirmed the incident; FBI noted that onlookers were able to capture the man as he tried fleeing the scene and handed him over to the police.
