Plateau Attack: Death Toll Rises to 51, Northern Youths Demand Action

Different organizations including the Northern Youths council have cried out about the killing in plateau state within few weeks.

In a first attack, about 52 persons were killed in Bokkos Local Government Area of the North-Central state— two weeks later, 51 people were killed in Zike, Kimakpa, Kwall district, Bassa LGA.

In a video of the incident that has gone viral on the internet; men, women and children were killed — while some were shot dead, others were cut with machete.

Meanwhile, On Tuesday, the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria called on the Federal Government to intervene quickly.

The National President of the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria, Isah Abubakar, in a statement on Tuesday, said;

“We call on the federal government to take immediate and decisive action to halt this crisis. It is imperative that the authorities prioritize the safety of citizens by not only condemning these heinous acts but also by ensuring that the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice.”

Earlier, the Governor of Plateau state, Caleb Muftwang expressed confusion over the turn out of things. He lamented that not less than 64 communities in the state have been taken over by bandits, renamed and they comfortably live on the lands.

“I can tell you in all honesty that I cannot find any explanation other than genocide sponsored by terrorists. The question is, who are the persons behind the organisers of this terrorism? This is what the security agencies must help us to unravel,” he said.
