A man identified as Olamide has allegedly killed his own son in Elega, Abeokuta during a fight with his wife.
According to the report, during the fight, the man had thrown an iron rod intended for his wife; at the 1-year old son who died later. This incid happened on Saturday.
Confirming the ugly incident, the community chairman, Ramoni Adegbola said his attention was called to the happening and he got there to meet the restless child.
In his narration, Adegbola said the child was rushed to the hospital but was returned home dead.
“I heard the noise of help, help, they have started fighting, and I ran to the scene. On getting there, I saw them with the child, and I was informed that the child had been hit with an iron rod on the head. I called out to other residents to assist in taking the child to the hospital, and when they returned from the hospital, I was informed that the child was dead,” has said.
He added that Saturday was not the first time Olamide was doing something similar stating that he might be taking illicit drugs due to the way he acts most times.
On the other hand, the Public Relations Officer of Ogun police, Omolola Odutola has confirmed the incident, too and said that investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, Adegbola had said that the man ran away immediately the crime was committed.
