Woman Whose Son Died in Promasidor Factory Demands $250,000
Mrs Susan Ogbu has sued Promasidor Nigeria Ltd. of Promasidor Holdings $250,000 over the death of her son —Patrick Ogbu in the company’s factory for alleged negligence and poor work environment.
According to Mrs. Ogbu, 26-year old Patrick was through an arrangement with Bohlar Integrated Services —assigned to Promasidor Nigeria’s factory on August 9, 2024.
On his resumption at work where he was promised technical skills and monthly stipend of 65,000 naira to work at the HSE trainee program by Omolade and Hybrid Group on April 1, 2024. Patrick, unfortunately, fell from the rooftop and died.
On that ground, Mrs. Ogbu has demanded in a suit marked NICN/LA/361/2024 – N300m compensation, and N150m in general damages from the defendants.
The claimant through her legal representative —David Kupolati, alleged that her son died due to negligence of the company and poor working environment.
However, the defendants — Dapo Omolade (Dapo Omolade Empowerment Initiatives), Hybrid Group Limited, Hybrid HSE Limited, Bohlar Integrated Services, denied all allegations.
The defence stated that Patrick died because he could not abide by the company’s protocol and climbing to the rooftop without the ‘permit to work’.
Minister of Labour and Employment was also among the defendants as the claimant demanded that the court at the National Industrial Court in Lagos — to fully investigate DOME and sanction necessary parties.
