Five Nabbed For Abducting, Killing 1-Year Old Baby
The Directorate of State Services (DSS) has apprehended five suspects linked to the abduction and brutal killing of 1-year old Sakina Mamuda — in Duhun Bake village, Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano state.
The state Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, who commended their efforts in a statement by Spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa on Thursday evening —said the suspects abducted the child, held her captive and demanded ransom from the family —only to later kill her in an even brutal manner, before dumping her body in an open well.
The suspects who include; Zailani Rabiu, Hafizu Yusuf, Abubakar Abdulkareem, Umar Lawan and Amadu Salisu — are all from the same community as their victim; Gwarzo Local Government Area.
According to the statement, Dawakin-Tofa said they are currently being investigated for criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, and homicide.
“Governor Yusuf expressed deep sorrow over the incident and praised the DSS operatives and other security agencies for their proactive response,” Dawakin-Tofa stated.
“This senseless tragedy has shaken us to the core.
“I commend the DSS for acting swiftly and decisively. We will continue to prioritize the safety of our people and ensure that those who threaten our peace are brought to justice,” the Governor said in the statement.
In their remark at a joint press briefing at the Kano Government House — the State Attorney General, Commissioner for Justice, Haruna Dederi, and the Commissioner for Information along with other senior officials — stated that the administration is determined to ensure justice is swiftly and decisively served.
