Support Young Candidate Or Tinubu in 2027, Don’t Contest – APGA Chieftain Urges Atiku
The National Youth leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA), Eze-Onyebuchi Chukwu, has urged former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to either support Tinubu for second tenure or support a young Nigerian instead of contesting the presidency in 2027.
Speaking in a statement on Friday, Chukwu stated that it is high time older politicians transferred leadership to younger, visionary individuals.
He further stated that Nigeria’s leadership should be shifted to the new generation and every process in politics must include young people or be rejected be rejected.
According to him, Nigerian youths would only support any candidate that pledges to support generational transition in 2027. He also noted that rather than Atiku, it may be more reasonable to support Tinubu for another term if he can show commitment in handing over to a young leader in 2031.
“Rather than aspiring to run again in 2027, Atiku should rally his political allies to support a young, credible Nigerian.
It’s time to return power to the youths.
“Atiku challenged Goodluck Jonathan in 2015, Muhammadu Buhari in 2019, and Tinubu in 2023
“Now he wants to contest again in 2027 — is he the only one fit to be president? There are capable young Nigerians who deserve a chance,” he said.
The APGA chieftain also recounted how he was a convener of Atikunation in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in 2019, and invested so much time and energy supporting Tinubu with hopes that he. prioritise youth empowerment.
