Exam Hall Collapse on Taraba WAEC Students While Writing Late Into the Evening

Several students of the Government Secondary School in Namnai, Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba state escaped death on Wednesday evening while sitting for the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination when the building suddenly collapsed following a downpour that came with winds.

According to the report, untill local residents intervened and rescued them, the students, teachers, corps members, and external supervisors, were  trapped in the collapsed structures sustaining injuries. The rescuers transported them to a nearby Primary Healthcare Centre in the town where they are currently receiving treatment.

According to a resident, Alhaji DanAzumi Lauris, who confirmed the incident, it happened after he first set of students were done writing their exam and the second set were on at about 6pm.

He further disclosed that the building suddenly collapsed because it could not withstand the wind and heavy rain as it was already an old classroom structure.

The Wednesday WASSCE examination came with a lot of issues as several parents, guardians and others complained bitterly about the keeping of students in the hall untill late in the night.

An internet user also made a video seen by NEWSMAX Nigeria of his niece coming home at about 10pm from the same exam.

Worsened by the evening rainfall, the situation drew attentions of many as parents cried out and some even had to go to the centres to look for their children in fear.
