Mike Ejeagha’s Eldest Son Reveals Why He Died at 95

The eldest son to the legendary highlife musician, Mike Ejeagha, has disclosed why his father passed after 95 years on earth.

According to Vanguard, Emma Ejeagha, in a telephone conversation, on Saturday said his father had battled prostate cancer for 16 years before he finally died on Friday night.

According to Emma, his father was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2006 and had been going from hospital to hospital untill two weeks ago when he completely broke down and was rushed again to the hospital wherein he regained stability and was discharged.

However, last Tuesday, Emma reveals that his father was rushed again to the hospital after he was discharged two weeks earlier but he couldn’t survive, this time around, he passed away on friday.

He said; “Papa died at exactly 8 p.m. on Friday, and his body has been deposited in the morgue. I was with him during his final moments. I will meet with my family in the morning to break the news to them.”

Describing his father as a genius and a peace loving man, Emma also disclosed that he was with his father untill he breathe his last and had been instructed by the late legend, not to embalm his body or keep it in the morgue for too long.

Mike Ejeagha is a renowned folklorist, songwriter, and musician, who gained maximum popularity in 2021 after popular comedian, Brain Jotter created a challenge with his song “Gwo Gwo Gwon Gwo” as it’s popularly known with.

Ejeagha is known for his unique style and brand of igbo folk music especially back in the 1980’s. His music tell stories across generations.

Many have sent their condolences to the family and well wishers including Brain Jotter, Governor of Enugu state, Mbah, and Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar where many have referred to him as a legend who lived his life well and fulfilled purpose.
