It Wasn’t a Firearm – Adefarasin Denies Viral Video

The general overseer of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has finally told his side of the story after a video of him flashing a gun while seated in a vehicle, circulated online.

The video had raised controversy among netizens as it captured the moment the senior pastor pointed  what netizens said was a gun at a creator who said he was only filming his car. While many defend him for brandishing a gun in public stating that Nigeria is not safe, others are criticizing.

In the video, the black range Rover wherein the cleric was, had stopped near the poster who greeted him but got a somewhat Stern reaction followed by a gun point.

It was posted on Friday by a Lagos-based content creator who is popular for always filming luxury and exotic cars — who said the pastor brought out the “gun” and aimed at him for videoing his vehicle.

Further in the video, after the creator apologized to the pastor, the car drove off.

Meanwhile, on Saturday evening, Adefarasin released a press statement on social media denying the claims that what he pointed at the creator was a gun.

The cleric described the claim as mischievous and said he was not holding a firearm and would never do such a thing.

He said; “You might be aware of a video which has been circulating on social media showing me in what some have misunderstood as brandishing a firearm.

“I want to assure you of this — that, that was certainly not a firearm, and at no point did I point such at anyone.”

He also promised to fully address the issue during Sunday’s service which begins at 9 am.
