… Inside Ubadimma’s “Fake” Prophecies which lead to destruction of property

A self-acclaimed prophet simply identified as Ubadimma is currently trending in Ebonyi State after he prophesied to the people of Agharaoza, Ndi-Ebo Ezzainyimagu, Izzi Local Government Area, and ordered the demolition of different buildings which led to the death of one of the village chief who was also a victim.

According to investigations, Ubadimma was invited by the villagers of the community to pray for them against eV!il people hindering their progress.

Ubadimma Celebrated The Death Of One Of His Victims

The villagers had alleged that some people were not progressing so they figured they needed spiritual help which led to Ubadimma’s invitation.

Our investigation shows that the villagers raised not less than 1.5 million naira to give to the young prophet after residents were tasked and they contributed the money.

Meanwhile, when the prophet came, he also demanded that every male child in the village that is up to 18 years would contribute 2,000 naira each to give to him to buy petrol for his travel. It is said that he also made the demand including those from the village who were away.

According to residents who spoke with our reporter, Ubadimma ordered the male children from the village to pay the sum of 2,000 naira each to disconnect them from any form of evil and possible background curse. The villagers reportedly agreed and did like they were asked and raised about 2 million plus and gave to their prophet.

When interviewed by our correspondent, son of the late Chief John Ekpono, Chijioke Ekpono narrated how the villagers stripped his father n@ked after Ubadimma Prophesied that he had been killing people in the village.

According to Ubadimma, the old man was responsible for many deaths and some people’s stagnation which explained why his children were all doing well.

Consuming everything he said, the villagers descended on the old man and his son which would result to the man’s subsequent death after some months which the Prophet Ubadimma celebrated.

Sequel to this, Ebonyi State House of Assembly placed a ban on prophecies, crusades for spiritual cleansing and fishing out witches and wizards by some acclaimed prophets in the state, in 2024.

This came after the member representing Izzi West state constituency, Abiri Gowin, moved a motion for the ban during a plenary of the Assembly in Nkaliki, Abakaliki Local Government Area.

In 2024, Ubadimma’s fake prophecy also infuriated the youths who went on rampage and destroyed Chief Ekpono’s houses, and that of his three wives, looted his property, including cash. The roads leading to the village were blocked and ditches dugged to prevent movement of people in and out of the village.

Speaking in Ebonyi House of Assembly while moving the motion, Hon. Abiri Godwin said

“However, the timely intervention of the Chairman of Izzi Local Government, Steve Nwankpa, saved the situation, as Chief Ekpono and all his family members were rescued, and are now taking refuge at Abakaliki town.

“Mr Speaker, if urgent steps are not taken to stop all those fake prophets of doom, who capitalise on the gullibility of our people to wreak havoc in our communities, their activities will desecrate the land and bring about total breakdown of law and order in Izzi clan and jeopardise the developmental strides of our dear Governor, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, in the rural areas,” he stated

Many members of the house supported the motion including the Leader of the House, Kingsley Ikoro.

“Mr. Speaker and my colleagues, Prophet Ubadimma is the actual witch and wizard, because I do not see where you go to claim that a man has tied the destinies of an entire community. It is a pity that this is happening in our time and land,” Ikoro said.

The member representing Ohaozara East State Constituency, Chikezie Igu, concurred to the motion stating that similar incident was going on in other communities in the state.

Consequently, the people of Agharaoza are calling on the government and other important bodies in the state, to come to their rescue as Ubadimma is currently having another crusade in a village at Enyigba, Abakaliki Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
