At least nine people died on Sunday night along the Owerri-Okigwe Road, near Umunachi, in Imo state when a fatal auto crash happened following a heavy downpour.
According to an eye witness and resident, the accident happened when the driver of the vehicle was speeding despite the heavy downpour.
“It rained heavily, yet drivers prefer to operate at high speeds. Now see what it has caused—nine people lying dead,” a resident source confirmed.

However, the police and other necessary authorities are yet to make a statement confirming the incident at the time of reporting this.
According to the residents, it’s possible that more dead bodies would be discovered.
