The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has disclosed that over 109 associations have come to the commission seeking to become political parties ahead of the 2027 election.

The chairman revealed this in his statement during INEC’s second quarterly consultative meeting with media executives, on Wednesday, in Abuja.

According to him, no fewer than 110 associations have submitted letters of intent to the Commission to be registered as political parties .
